[IN PICS] Vandals wreak havoc at Newcastle Oval Track

Vandals and thieves have become the scourge of Newcastle Oval Track.

Newcastle Oval Track has been hit hard by vandals and thieves.

Recently, it was reported that the club sustained a loss of R30 000 when equipment and track robots were stolen.

In the latest incident, club members arrived at the premises this week to find the clubhouse completely vandalised.

Doors to the bathrooms were stolen at the race track.

”We visited the club as there was a fire nearby the premises. Luckily it was nothing too serious and we managed to put it out, but as we walked around we discovered the gate leading to the bathrooms had been broken and bent,” relayed Zaakira Khan, a member of the racing club.

Khan confirmed the toilet doors were all stolen, sinks were ripped out and broken and spades, wheelbarrows and other tools were stolen.

Chairman of the Newcastle Oval track, Shaukat Khan said the thefts were causing extreme frustration among the members.

“It is very disheartening to encounter so many break-ins. Not only are things getting stolen, but the place is being vandalised as well.”

The club has asked residents to be look out for anyone trying to sell these items. The matter is being investigated.
