Officers were called to the scene at about 10pm where they found that the truck had been badly burnt.

“The complainant, who was the driver, informed the police that he decided to drive on the R103 because he was not feeling safe to continue driving on the N3. He told police that he was attacked by about four or five suspects who were driving a silver grey VW Polo. He did not see the registration number of the vehicle,” said police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi.

Fortunately both the driver and his assistant were not injured.

No arrests have been made and police are requesting anyone with information to call the station on 036-342-9525.
