[CRIME]: Police clamp down on drugs and theft in Osizweni

Mandrax tablets and stolen goods were recovered in an intelligence driven operation.

An SAPS intelligence driven operation was conducted at Osizweni Policing Area on July 7, which focused on drug cases in the area.

The Newcastle Cluster Task Team worked with members of the Osizweni Crime Prevention unit and the Osizweni Reservists.

According to Lizzy Arumugam of SAPS Newcastle Corportate Comunications, during the night of July 7 members raided a home at the Jakalas Span area, where Mandrax tablets were recovered.

“One  suspect was arrested for the possession of the Mandrax tablets,” confirmed Arumugam.

The intelligence team then proceeded to a house at Section (A), and found three full Mandrax tablets , two halves of Mandrax tablets and ten quarters of Mandrax tablets. One suspect was subsequently arrested.

At another house in Section (C), the intelligence members recovered suspected stolen property. One suspect was arrested.
