[CRIME]: Police crack down on the illegal sale of liquor

Nine suspects were arrested for the illegal sale of alcohol.

Nine suspects were arrested for contravening the Disaster Management Act of 2020 by selling liquor.

According to Lizzy Arumugam of Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications, an intelligence driven operation on July 10 resulted in the suspects being caught and a number of alcohol products were confiscated.

“Police officials worked with members of Osizweni Crime Prevention in the Osizweni Policing area,” said Arumugam.

During the first raid, a total of 15 quarts of beer were recovered in Section F.

“In Section D at Msizi Tavern, officials recovered 12 quarts [of beer] and several other varieties of beer,” concluded Arumugam.
