NEWCASTLE KZN: Baby and child injured in multi-vehicle Victoria Road collision

Emergency services are currently at the scene.

Three injuries, including a baby and a child, have been reported following a multi-vehicle collision on Victoria Road this afternoon (March 10).

An eyewitness states the driver of a Mercedes-Benz appears to have lost control while travelling up Victoria Road, slamming into a sedan then careening into the parking lot of a nearby pre-primary school, where he collided with a bakkie.

The Mercedes-Benz first collided with a Toyota.

It is believed the driver of the Mercedes was experiencing a fit or seizure at the time. He has been seriously injured and is being stabilised on-scene by emergency services officials.

Others involved in the collision have injuries ranging from moderate to minor.

Emergency services officials tend to the injured driver.

One lane of Victoria Road has been reduced and traffic officials are currently regulating the flow of vehicles.
