VRYHEID KZN: Public transport users urged to adhere to level 1 regulations
'Even during Alert Level 1 of the lockdown, people must continue to wear their masks, sanitize their hands frequently and maintain social distance when using public transportation.

Now that the whole country has moved to Alert Level 1 of the lockdown, as per the announcement made by President Cyril Ramaphosa, people are bound to be travelling more since many activities have resumed.
Many South Africans make a living via public transportation and will be happy to be on the road again, but this doesn’t mean they should forget about the Level 1 rules and regulations regarding the use of public transport.
South African National Taxi Council (SANTCO) chairperson Sbusiso Zwane outlined the fact that people who use public transport must continue to adhere to all safety protocols, since the virus is still around. “People must not think that Covid-19 is gone, and suddenly relax. ‘Even during Alert Level 1 of the lockdown, people must continue to wear their masks, sanitize their hands frequently and maintain social distance when using public transportation, as nothing has changed.” He continued to explain that they still have queue marshals at the taxi ranks, who will continue to sanitize passengers and ensure that all rules and regulations are followed. The load that will be carried for long-distance travels during Level 1 will be 100% capacity, as well as for short distances. “As we will be carrying full loads, people who use public transport should ensure that they wear their masks correctly, have sanitized their hands before entering the vehicle, and must keep the windows of the vehicle open at all times.”
Zwane concluded by saying, “Don’t carry your mask in your hand and think you will only wear it when you enter a supermarket. People should wear their masks at all times; people must be responsible for their lives. If it happens that you see another passenger not wearing their mask, tell that person to put it on. It is time that we look out for one another.”
