DUNDEE KZN: New fittings arrive as repairs to ruptured water pipe continue

Workers have toiled tirelessly

New fittings have arrived as repairs to the ruptured main water pipeline get underway on the corner of Tatham and Colley Streets.

The pipe broke yesterday leaving the whole of Dundee without water and sending many residents into a dry tail spin. Umzinyathi District Municipality Water and Sanitation workers  and  private contractors, Hydrocon Plumbing, have toiled tirelessly to undertake the repairs with the new fittings having been sent in from Pietermaritzburg, officials said.

Water was restored to some parts of town this morning after the water supply was re-routed. It has now been switched off to allow workers to replace the fittings.

A spokesperson from Umzinyathi told the Courier that the water supply should be restored by early evening.
