DUNDEE KZN: Armed robbers strike in central business district

Four men entered the shop shortly before closing time

Armed robbers struck in Dundee’s central business district on Monday evening when four men, two of whom were armed, robbed Foschini of cash and cellphones.

The men arrived at the shop shortly before closing time at 5pm. No shots were fired. It is unclear as to how the men made their getaway.  SAPS are investigating.

The robbery comes on top of similar incidents at the two Pep branches and the robbery at the Dundee Post Office on June 12 when four armed men held up staff at gunpoint and stole R400 000.

In another incident, on Monday, a taxi driver was confronted by a group of people who demanded money. He had dropped off passengers and was approached by the men, who asked why he was ferrying around passengers in Dundee.

He was forced to the Nedbank ATM, where he was told to withdraw R3000. He then opened a charge at Dundee SAPS.
