DUNDEE KZN: How do you keep faith in trying times?
I have no certainty or assurance about the day after today or even the next hour from now but the faith I have at the present moment is enough for me not to worry about the future

Last week on the first of November, South Africans stood in long queues as they cast their votes for the local elections.
Many of those who stood in long queues had no idea about the outcomes of the results but they stood there with hope for better days to come.
In my honest opinion, I believe there’s room for improvement, South African citizens deserve better. Enough about local elections, as they say, “Life goes on”.
How do you trust something, anything that you totally have no control of? I guess that is faith right there! The future is promising, as I believe that there will be light at the end of the tunnel. I might not know what you are going through at the moment but I know exactly what I’m going through and I will definitely grow through it and become a better being.
I have no certainty or assurance about the day after today or even the next hour from now but the faith I have at the present moment is enough for me not to worry about the future, so indeed you also owe yourself that mindset. We don’t owe ourselves millions of unnecessary thoughts but just positive thoughts. In this article, I wish to challenge each and every single person to have a courage to cultivate their mind regardless of the situation or circumstances of the present moment, especially if such moment is clothed with sadness, misery, pain, loss, and even confusion. We all go through difficult times, but only those who live through those times are worthy to be crowned as champions.
I am a huge fan of sports; pity covid-19 took away the joy of watching comrade’s marathon. Every time I had a chance to watch a Comrades Marathon, I would observe something interesting. As the athletes would run all the way from the starting point, along the way they would meet people who normally cheer for them and also give them energy drinks and water at the same time.
After the great run of athletes through downhills and uphills. Out of hundreds, it is only one athlete who normally gets to cross the finishing line first. What interests me the most is that as soon as the athlete crosses the line, this time instead of being given just water but he or she gets to be rewarded with flowers as well.
Life is nothing but a marathon and it doesn’t offer us any choice but to run it at our own pace. After a great run, there’s no guarantee that we will all be rewarded with flowers at the finishing line but it is guaranteed that all of us will come across obstacles and great challenges along the way, but when we come across such a period we shouldn’t forget to stay positive and have faith.
There is no singular formula that we can all use in order to keep faith during trying times, simply because we are unique with different belief systems also. Regardless of the time, season but my fact is that patience is the most important key. At times we are quick to give up without weighing all the options before us.
We don’t have to rest after climbing great hills, we don’t have to lose hope after failing multiply times also we don’t have to rest after winning great battles but we must carry on by maintaining a positive attitude.
Last month I had this platform where I hosted different speakers with the hope of educating about faith, I must say the response was impressive and I also learned a lot. I believe that it is only fair to encourage people to talk through their situation and heavy hearts.
Many people are suffering from depression. They didn’t plan it but they failed to plan against it until it was too late. At times you don’t have to keep things to yourself just because you want to be seen strong always. I understand that we don’t want to be seen as weak but even in our weakness, there’s life. As much as we always seek greatness and happiness but we must be able also to deal with pain, mistakes, disappointments so that we can be able to live a balanced life. I’m not even certain if there’s something called a balanced life but I believe our positive mindset allows us to create such life.
