Malinga aims to host more boxing tournaments on a monthly basis

Ex-boxer Mthokozisi ‘Mtho’ Malinga has taken the initiative to get youngsters involved in boxing and off the streets.

Last weekend saw a hive of activity in Steadville! A 5km fun-run kicked off early last Saturday morning (March 26). This was followed by non-stop boxing action in the afternoon.

The ex-boxer from George Seme Boxing Club encouraged boys and girls of all ages to take part. The boxing matches took place at the Steadville taxi rank.

Various businesses sponsored scrumptious meals and drinks for the boxers.

Malinga aims to host more boxing tournaments on a monthly basis in order to keep the youth away from drugs and alcohol.

He hopes to encourage more youngsters to join the action. In this way, he will also be identifying local talent to fight at national level in the future.
