Municipality warns of job scam in Dundee

"As the municipality, we do not sell jobs and therefore we do not request any kind of monetary exchange from job seekers. The municipality follows a free-and-fair and transparent recruitment process," added Zungu.

Endumeni Municipality has once again reiterated that jobs are not for sale.
This follows more reports of job scammers posing as municipal officials and duping victims into paying for non-existent posts.
The municipality has warned the public not to make payments in exchange for jobs, because this is a scam.
“We currently have a problem with job scammers and we would like to warn the public against those people posing as municipal officials. They contact their victims via phone and promise them permanent positions at the municipality,” said Endumeni head of communications Khetho Zungu. She further explained that the scam-artists promise people jobs at a cost of R5000.
“As the municipality, we do not sell jobs and therefore we do not request any kind of monetary exchange from job seekers. The municipality follows a free-and-fair and transparent recruitment process,” added Zungu.
Any municipal job listing is advertised on the official website, in the municipal newsletter, and in local newspapers.
Zungu urged those who have fallen victim to this scam to report the matter to the SAPS.
Those who are caught committing such a crime will face the wrath of the law and will be prosecuted.
