Newcastle SAPS educates primary school learners

Police officials taught the learners about the dangers of crime, anti-social behaviour and dangers they could possibly face.

Newcastle SAPS educates primary school learners –

Arbor Park Primary School learners were in for a real treat recently, when the town’s ‘men in blue’ visited their school. The purpose of the visit was to teach the learners about personal safety.

According to Lizzy Arumugam, from Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications, the department accompanied Newcastle Social Crime Prevention to interact with learners from Grade R to Grade 3.

She stated that the aim of the day was to provide the learners with the essential safety and crime prevention tips.

The learners, explained Arumugam, were taught the consequences of engaging in unruly behaviour such as bullying, human trafficking, bunking school, being naughty, accepting gifts or money from strangers, and stealing.

They were also taught not to fear the police, as the officials are there to serve and protect the community,” concluded Arumugam.
