Roadblock spreads awareness and nets offenders

Vehicles were searched and fines issued for Road Traffic Act offences

Police officers from across the Uthukela District joined forces with Immigration Services and Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) to hold a vehicle checkpoint / roadblock on the N11 recently.

The operation was held in the Elandslaagte policing precinct, where a large number of vehicles were searched.

Two undocumented persons were arrested and several fines issued for offences in terms of the Road Traffic Act.

The officers also used the opportunity to create awareness by distributing pamphlets containing useful information about sexual offences, substance abuse and domestic violence.
