Educators rewarded for their efforts in the classroom

The educators received certificates and trophies for their efforts in the classroom last year

A function to honour outstanding educators from Paulpietersburg was held at the King Shenge Village Hall on Wednesday last week.

Teachers from different schools in the Edumbe area gathered to celebrate one another for doing such excellent work in 2021. Dr LM Mavuso warmly welcomed the guests and Pastor Ntombela read some scripture from Exodus 3, verse 7, before opening the function with a prayer.

The educators received certificates and trophies for their efforts in the classroom last year. There were different categories, such as excellence in a particular Grade 12 subject, secondary schools that performed above the threshold, most improved secondary school, top-performing educators at primary level, and educators who have served for over 30 years.

Circuit manager Mr Zulu addressed the guests and thanked his colleagues for ‘coming through’, as it meant a lot to the Paulpietersburg CMC (Circuit Management Cluster). ‘’We thank the sponsors for making this event come true. We also want to acknowledge their contribution to the CMC, because they have made everything in the CMC possible. I lead this CMC because of you colleagues and I want you to acknowledge that your hard work makes me a leader. Without you, there is no CMC and there is no Mr Zulu. Our secondary schools have worked hard in 2021, despite many challenges such as Covid-19, the rotation timetable, the opening and closing of schools, and many more. In the 2021 results, we took a downward knock from 72.1% to 67.47% and out of 16 secondary schools, only 10 performed above the threshold of 65%. However, as much as we took a knock, we did not under-perform and there were more learners who passed with a bachelors pass.’’
Zulu then urged the educators to celebrate and enjoy their achievements.
