Mthashana TVET College engages with various stakeholders

It has been revealed that many students find it difficult either to find internships or permanent jobs after completing their studies; therefore the college aims to build relationships that students can benefit from.

Mthashana TVET College hosted a stakeholder engagement event on Thursday. The aim of the event was for the college to interact with various departments and organisations for the work placement of their students.
It has been revealed that many students find it difficult either to find internships or permanent jobs after completing their studies; therefore the college aims to build relationships that students can benefit from, making their lives easier after they graduate.
Stakeholders like the Department of Health, Department of Education, AbaQulusi Local Municipality, Correctional Services, Ithala Bank, Department of Justice, and Department of Labour were among those that attended.
Bongani Dladla spoke on how education can change the needs of a society. He explained that the studies that are offered must meet their partner’s demands; therefore colleges must offer qualifications that are needed in communities.
Mr Zulu gave a speech on how learnerships and short skills programmes can help elderly citizens attain skills that can keep them going – skills like manufacturing soap, welding, knitting and cellphone repairs. “These short skills programmes can help individuals to start their own enterprises.”
Thulani Bophela, who is the campus manager, commented that, “TVET colleges need various stakeholders to change the lives of the students, while stakeholders need to prioritise local college students to attain diplomas, as they need to do their practicals in workplaces.”
The event was a success as the stakeholders shared their final words on how they can help the students.
