Court hands hefty sentences to principal’s murderers

Two men who murdered a school principal in front of his wife and children were handed hefty sentences when they appeared in the Madadeni High Court last month.

Skhumbuzo Goodenough Nkabinde (28) was jailed for life and an additional 15 years for house robbery while co-accused, Sibusiso Thembinkosi Buthelezi (29), received 28 years for murder and 15 years for house robbery.

In August 2022, two men attacked and murdered former Zabalaza School principal, Mr. Hlatshwayo, in his home leaving his family leaving his family and community devastated and in shock.

The case was assigned to Sergeant Sibusiso Xolani Kunene from the Amajuba District Detective Task Team, and through thorough Kunene gathered enough evidence to connect the suspects to the heinous crime.

His tireless efforts ensured that both Nkabinde and Buthelezi were denied bail throughout the trial period, leading up to their sentencing.
