Newcastle’s rising star, Chrizmie keeps shining

Chrizmie Mostert, a beautiful and young local talent, is making waves in the photography and beauty industry.

As a finalist in the Miss Teen Universe South Africa 2025 and brand ambassador of the Pink Territory perfume range, Chrizmie is pursuing a trajectory encompassing confidence, empowerment, and being yourself.

“It’s a dream realised to be chosen as a brand ambassador for Pink Territory,” she said. “This fragrance represents strength and perseverance, urging young women to break barriers and become who they’re destined to be.”

Her ambassadorial position goes beyond just representing the brand. She will be touring around South Africa with the newly crowned Miss Teen Universe queens, hoping to inspire and empower young women across the country.

She only began her photography career in August last year, making her current success all the more remarkable.

She was crowned the overall winner in the junior photogenic category at the international Stars of the Universe competition.

“I did not expect it! We weren’t even waiting for the announcement; we accidentally came across the post on Facebook,” she recalled.

The young model credits her photographer, Warren Wade, and makeup artist, Tasmiya from Makeup Maze, for being instrumental in her journey.

“After my first photoshoot, Warren compared one of my photos to Cindy Crawford. Since then, he always jokes, ‘Milan, here we come!’ And now, it’s really happening—I’ve been invited to compete in the Rimini Italian Performing Arts Tour in Italy!”

A shared passion for modelling and photography:

When asked whether she prefers modelling or photography, she finds it impossible to choose.

“I love both! Modelling brings clothing and personality to life on the runway, while photography captures a moment forever, showcasing the creativity of both the model and designer.”

Preparation for photo competitions is tedious… “It’s not as easy as dressing up and taking a picture. Every aspect matters—hair, makeup, accessories, background, and the narrative you’re presenting,” she explained.

Despite her achievements, challenges remain.

“One of the biggest challenges in Newcastle is sourcing glamorous evening gowns for my shoots…if any designers are reading this, ring me!” She laughed.

The international stage, overcoming obstacles and looking ahead:

Competing against the best from eight continents was thrilling and also a humbling experience.

“Growing up in a small town, you never think that something like this will happen. I have represented South Africa before in ballet and hip-hop, but to win an international title is still surreal to me.”

Being a Miss Teen Universe South Africa contestant has opened numerous doors.

“It’s not about my success—it’s about getting people to believe in their dreams, especially those from small towns.”

Her path has been guided by steadfast encouragement from family, friends, and mentors.

“My parents, grandmothers, my dance studio, and the director of Miss Teen Universe South Africa, Ntombi Gumede, have been amazing. Warren and Tasmiya have been my rock. Their support is everything to me.”

In addition to individual accomplishments, she is dedicated to impacting others.

“I want to use my platform to empower young women and advocate for children with learning disabilities. I’ve faced my own challenges, having three learning disabilities, but that hasn’t stopped me. In just six months, I’ve won major titles, and I’m incredibly grateful for every opportunity.”

Chrizmie’s advice to aspiring models and photographers:

For those who hope to compete internationally, her advice is simple: “Never sell yourself short. Believe in yourself, even when resources are scarce. Hard work, determination, and self-confidence are the ingredients. And for photographers—Warren has taught me that making the shoot fun and keeping the model at ease is paramount!”

Despite all the excitement, she remains grounded.

“People ask me, ‘How does it feel to win against competitors from eight continents?’ And honestly, I still feel like me. My celebration is making my family, town, and South Africa proud. Staying rooted in my faith keeps me focused. My name means ‘follower of Christ’ and ‘to shine like a star’—I strive to live up to that every day.”

With Milan on the horizon and a bright future ahead, she is just getting started!
