Yanda Mbulazi moves hearts with soulful new album Inkanyezi
Yanda Mbulazi celebrates his Inkanyezi album launch, blending emotion, faith, and healing through music.
Local artist Yanda Mbulazi recently celebrated a major milestone with the launch of his 16-track album, Inkanyezi, at Coronation.
The launch event featured two opening acts — 20 Cents, who entertained the crowd with Maskandi music, and Imbongikazi yamaNguni, who delivered powerful poetry.
Mbulazi performed seven songs from the new album, with track four, Umbuzo, standing out as both his favourite and a crowd favourite.
“This is the one song I first released from the album, and the reaction I received while performing it was incredible,” said Mbulazi. “It changed the atmosphere completely — the song speaks about the past, family, and God, and it helps heal old traumas.”
He added that ’it was not a smooth ride with this album; recording it was a roller-coaster. Emotionally, I was broken and defeated because of life and being betrayed.
“On some days I recorded happy songs, so it is a mixture of every mood, some songs will hit home and some will bring hope.’’
A few months back, Mbulazi was crowned AbaQulusi’s number one Hip-Hop artist and Zululand’s third best Hip-Hop artist in Umbele Wethu Competition. ‘’I have never been so proud of myself and the work I do; this time, I got to understand myself for the better through my music.’’
The launch proved to be a success thanks to Queen Nomalanga, who played an important role on the day of the launch, with T Mohaeka (who was also a sponsor) and Cllr B Mdlalose who were also in attendance.
He also expressed gratitude to other artists who added to the day’s entertainment, including Izihlabani Zezwe, who delivered an energetic Afro-Gospel performance, and Toxic, who brought the crowd to its feet with a Hip-Hop set.
Mbulazi concluded by thanking the team that made the launch a success — Diploma Mthethwa, Prince Luthuli, Skhumbuzo Masando, and everyone who attended and supported the event.
