Body discovered in Ncandu River near bus rank

Authorities are investigating a death after a man’s body is found in the Ncandu River, behind the Bus Rank. Read more here:

The body of an unidentified man was found in the Ncandu River behind the Newcastle Bus Rank earlier this morning (October 20).

Imraan Ghafoor of the Newcastle Crime Fighter Task Team (CCPA) said the discovery was made by a member of the public who immediately alerted him.

“I responded to the scene and confirmed that the body was that of a man, wearing dark jeans and a black T-shirt. The SAPS were called for further assistance,” said Ghafoor.

The cause of death is currently unknown and will be determined following police investigations.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the deceased or details surrounding his death is urged to contact the Newcastle SAPS.
