Seven injured in Madadeni Rd collision

Seven people were left injured after the collision.

Seven people sustained injuries after three vehicles collided on the Airport (Madadeni) Road this afternoon (February 7).

According to Craig Botha of KwaZulu Private Ambulance services, they were dispatched to the collision at approximately 15:30 in the vicinity of the municipal landfill site.

A chaotic scene

“First responders arrived at a chaotic scene where three cars had collided with significant force,” he said.

He continued: “The secondary impact caused one of the vehicles to veer violently off the road, overturning before coming to a standstill in the adjacent veld.”

He further said that the wreckage from the overturned car and debris scattered across the roadway required emergency teams to rapidly secure the area to prevent further incidents.

Seven injured

Paramedics conducted a meticulous triage of seven occupants found at the scene.

“Three patients had sustained serious injuries requiring advanced life support intervention and stabilisation,” said Botha.

The remaining four patients suffered minor injuries, though they remained visibly shaken by the intensity of the crash.

Due to the severity of the incident and the number of casualties, specialised medical teams worked in tandem with the Newcastle Fire Department and SAPS to manage the site.

Once stabilized, all seven patients were transported to various local hospitals for further medical evaluation and treatment.

The exact cause of the collision is still unclear at this stage and will remain subject to further police investigation.
