PG Glass and Glasfit face prosecution for alleged price fixing

They are alleged to be engaged in fixing prices of automotive glass products.

The Competition Commission has hauled two major automotive glass firms before the Competition Tribunal over alleged price fixing.

On February 17, the commission referred PG Glass and Glasfit for prosecution, accusing them of colluding to raise prices on automotive glass supplied to consumers and insurance companies.

The alleged conduct dates back to 2004 and is said to be ongoing. If proven, the companies could face penalties of up to 10% of their annual turnover.

Commissioner Doris Tshepe said cracking the alleged cartel would help secure fairer prices for consumers and insurers.
