Women’s Manyano marks Lucy Zulu’s milestone 90th birthday
Lucy Zulu honoured at 90 for decades of church and community service.
Lucy Zulu recently celebrated her 90th birthday in the company of Women’s Manyano, a senior citizens’ organisation from Mondlo.
Zulu, described as a pillar of the Methodist Church, has dedicated decades of service to her community. She served as a class leader for 44 years and as vice-president of the Women’s Manyano organisation for 11 years.
Members of the organisation expressed gratitude for her long life and continued devotion. “We thank God for the nine decades of life she has been blessed with, and for the fact that she is still able to attend Sunday services. Her consistent participation in church meetings and events has greatly contributed to the growth of the church,” they shared.
The celebration was marked by singing, dancing and heartfelt tributes from her former class members, who reflected on her guidance and influence in shaping them into committed Christians and leaders. Many of them now serve at society, circuit and district level.
Society steward Dr TP Nkosi conveyed a message of appreciation on behalf of the church family and presented Zulu with a token of gratitude. “This gift should serve as a reminder of her dedication and unwavering commitment to the work of God,” Nkosi said.
