What is International Yoga Day?

International Yoga Day is observed annually on June 21, aligning with the summer solstice – the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.

It was first proposed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and officially adopted by the United Nations in 2014 to raise global awareness of yoga’s many benefits.

Originating in India more than 5,000 years ago, yoga is a holistic discipline that connects the mind, body, and spirit. It goes beyond physical exercise, promoting flexibility, strength, and posture while reducing stress and fostering inner peace.

Today, International Yoga Day is celebrated worldwide with community events, group classes, and messages promoting wellness, unity, and balance.

What to bring?

Participants are encouraged to bring:

  • Yoga mat;
  • Water bottle;
  • Comfortable clothing;
  • Positive energy;
  • Friends and family.

Entry is free.
