The Ramakrishna Clinic of South Africa, Durban Centre, led by chairperson Dr Shivani Singh, visited Newcastle on Sunday, August 16, to provide crucial humanitarian aid to residents of the town and surrounding areas.

The NGO plays a vital role in bridging service gaps and ensuring essential healthcare reaches those who need it most.

Lennoxton Primary School was transformed into a temporary medical centre, with rooms dedicated to various specialities, including gynaecology, optometry, haematology, general medicine, blood work and pharmacy.

Highly experienced and trainee doctors from Durban, Ladysmith, Ermelo and Johannesburg sacrificed two days to travel to Newcastle to evaluate patients and offer their services free of charge.

Residents welcome annual support

The service was free to all Newcastle and surrounding residents, regardless of race or religion.

Patients expressed their deep gratitude for the invaluable support the clinic provides annually.
