Top awards for dedicated Umzinyathi police members

The SAPS’s Umzinyathi District proudly celebrated the achievements of its members who were nominated for the prestigious KZN SAPS Provincial Excellence Awards. The district had six nominees who demonstrated exceptional dedication, with three securing top positions in their respective categories:
* Lieutenant Colonel Sunesh Singh from Umzinyathi District Detectives was nominated for the Detective and Forensic Services Employee of the Year (Level 8-12) award, achieving the first runner-up position.
* Captain Yashiv Bhagwandeen from Glencoe K9 excelled in the Visible Policing and Operations Employee of the Year (Level 8-12) category, winning this esteemed award.
* Sergeant Richard Gilden from the Greytown Family Violence, Child Protection & Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit was nominated for the FCS Investigator of the Year (Level 5-7) award, achieving second runner-up.
* Constable Siyabonga Nkwanyana from Umzinyathi District Corporate Communication & Liaison was recognised as a nominee for the Man of the Year award, securing the second runner-up position.
* Constable Thobeka Phungula from Dundee SAPS emerged as the winner in the Sportswoman of the Year category.
* The Greytown FCS team received top honours, winning the FCS Team of the Year award.
