Dundee SAPS police clerk tragically stabbed to death
A bright young man's future was brutally cut short by ruthless assailants.
Shock and horror greeted the tragic news that 30-year-old police clerk Simphiwe Ndlovu had been brutally stabbed to death in Extension 18 in the early hours of Friday morning.
A passerby found Ndlovu at the side of the road in a pool of blood. Three men, aged between 29 and 43, were arrested following a swift investigation by Dundee detectives (led by Warrant Officer Anton Nkabini), together with Glencoe K9.
One suspect was arrested in Dundee and the other two in the Kingsley area. “A search revealed some exhibits that were seized, including clothes of the deceased, as well as a bloodied knife and a bush knife, which are believed to be the murder weapons,” said police spokesperson Constable Siyabonga Nkwanyana.
The three men have appeared in the Dundee Magistrate’s Court and the case was postponed to December 9 for a formal bail application. All are still in police custody.
Ndlovu had close ties with the Courier, having worked at the office as an enthusiastic volunteer some years ago, before interning at the Dundee FCS office.
He later worked with the police in Durban before returning to Dundee to work at the Cluster Office and then at Dundee SAPS.
He was a keen sportsman and played rugby at Dundee High School. For the Courier, he joined the staff in playing action cricket and on fun bowling days.
Ndlovu was bright, had a great sense of humour, and was a people person. The Ndlovu family of McKenzie Street is still reeling from the tragic news. Condolences to Jerome and Mrs Ndlovu.
