Bikers pray for peace and unity in SA

The Jericho Ride is a ride for bikers uniting in prayer. The ride is hosted by different clubs or ministries across South Africa with the sole purpose of praying for our country, our people, our families and our circumstances

The Jericho Ride was hosted by The Rusty Bucket in Glencoe on Sunday. This is an event for all bikers to unite in prayer, including those not attached to any club. They take a symbolic ride around town, handing out crosses, with the sole purpose of praying for the country and its people.

Bikers opened their throttles in convoy to ride through Glencoe and onto the Sunset Rest road, circling back via the testing centre, where there was a stopover at Merakies Café for a prayer led by Alex Mcchlery of the Christian Motorcycle Association.

Prayers were said for the country and its leaders, with an emphasis on unity and peace. The bikers then set off back to Glencoe, where Sanet Mcchhery led a short sermon on the significance of ‘the fall of the walls of Jericho’, equating this to people knocking down their own walls of anger, hate, substance abuse or fear.
The Jericho Ride, which originated in the United States of America, was developed back in 1975 and was introduced in South Africa in 1980.
For the bikers who converged on Glencoe, it was a way of reaffirming faith and ‘rebooting’ ahead of Easter.

Bikers from around Northern KZN gather in Glencoe for the Jericho Ride.
Wooden crosses were also presented.
