Dundee driver avoids serious injury after car plunges into river

By-standers waiting for lifts and walking to work reacted swiftly to assist the stricken woman.

A woman had a miraculous escape on Monday morning, May 12, after losing control of her vehicle and plunging into the Steenkoolspruit River, just past Dundee Secondary School, in an attempt to avoid a collision.

According to early reports, the driver swerved to prevent an accident, resulting in the vehicle veering off the road and ending up in the river. Fortunately, quick-thinking motorists and bystanders rushed to assist and helped rescue the woman by smashing the back window and helping her out of the car before emergency services arrived on the scene.

No injuries were reported, and the driver is said to be in stable condition. Emergency personnel responded promptly and remained on-site to ensure the area was safe and secure.
