Dundee community urged to help little warrior Cohen fight leukaemia

Dundee residents rally to support four-year-old Cohen Nair as he bravely battles leukaemia with his family.

Courier readers are being asked to open their hearts to help four-year-old Cohen Nair, who has recently been diagnosed with leukaemia.

At an age when he should be playing and discovering the world, Cohen is instead facing gruelling hospital visits and treatments. He is currently receiving intensive therapy at Grey’s Hospital in Pietermaritzburg, which requires frequent trips from Dundee and the constant presence of his parents, Fabian and Taryn.

While state healthcare covers the cost of chemotherapy and hospitalisation, the family faces heavy additional expenses. These include transport, temporary accommodation near the hospital, nutritional supplements, hygiene and home care needs, and loss of income while caring for Cohen.

On Saturday, family and friends hosted a bake sale at the Boulevard Centre, offering sweet treats to raise funds. “Every contribution, no matter how small, goes directly towards Cohen’s care and the costs the family is facing. Together, we can give him the chance to grow up healthy, strong and full of life,” said a family spokesperson.

Residents are encouraged to support Cohen, described as a ‘little warrior’, through donations and prayers. Contributions can be made via his BackaBuddy page: backabuddy.co.za/campaign/cohen-nair.
