Endumeni implements load reduction in Sithembile after cable theft

Endumeni Municipality introduces load reduction in Sithembile after cable theft leaves the substation running on a single line.

Residents of Sithembile (Ward 3) will face scheduled power cuts after cable theft left the local substation operating on a single supply line.

According to the Endumeni Municipality’s communications unit, repairs to the damaged cable can only be carried out once road maintenance is completed, as the road where the cable runs is collapsing.

“To protect the remaining cable and prevent a total blackout, the municipality has introduced a load reduction schedule with effect from September 30 until further notice. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused and appeal for the community’s understanding and cooperation during this period,” the spokesperson explained.

Ward 3 Cllr Mbulelo Phakathi said electricians were working hard to restore power ‘as normal’.

The load reduction schedule will apply in both the morning and evening.
