Youth Day celebration brings community together

Hundreds enjoyed sport, music and family fun at a Youth Day celebration in Endumeni.

Hundreds of residents gathered to celebrate Youth Day at a community event organised by local businessman Bongani Mlambo, better known as “Man B”, founder and director of Maphisa Holdings.

The celebration featured a range of sporting and recreational activities, including soccer and netball tournaments, pool competitions, casino-style games and a 5km fun run.

Families also enjoyed live entertainment, music, food stalls and a children’s play area, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the day.

Mlambo said the event was organised to give back to the community while creating opportunities for young people to come together in a safe and positive environment.

‘Empowering young people is the aim’

“We aim to empower young people, promote unity and allow families to celebrate Youth Day together,” he said.

The event formed part of the National Youth Day commemorations and encouraged recreation, community spirit and social cohesion.

Several local businesses and community leaders supported the initiative. Sponsors included Sibusiso Sikhakhane of the MK Party Legislature, Clement Ngobese of Liyasantinda Projects and Sandile Buthelezi of 20 Lifestyle.

Mlambo thanked the sponsors, participants and volunteers whose contributions helped make the event a success.

He expressed hope that the celebration would continue to grow into an annual event that empowers young people while strengthening community bonds.
