Drugs and liquor recovered by police
Suspects were arrested and have since appeared in court
Drugs and a large quantity of liquor were some of the exhibits recovered by police during high-density operations over the weekend. The ops were held in Colenso, Ladysmith, Ezakheni, Bergville and Elandslaagte.
Suspects were arrested for offences including robbery, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, dealing in liquor without a licence, unlawful possession of drugs, and dealing in drugs.
In addition, fines were issued for traffic violations.
A large quantity of liquor was seized on Saturday night (February 24) in the Tsakane area of Steadville when officers raided a tavern. The tavern owner has since been charged.
36 kilograms of dagga valued at over R70,000 was seized when officers stopped a vehicle on the N11 during a ‘stop and search’ operation. The dagga had been compressed and put in plastic bags which were bound with tape and then concealed in larger carrier bags.

Three suspects aged between 29 and 35 were arrested and appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday (February 27).Â
