Crime briefs: 3 people murdered over the weekend

They were both allegedly shot by the woman’s ex-boyfriend

Three people were killed in two separate incidents in the Vryheid area over the weekend.
A 32-year-old man and his 24-year-old girlfriend were shot at the landfill site. The man’s body, later identified as Mnotho Mbatha (32), was found by police in a room at the landfill site on Sunday evening. He had been shot dead. A 24-year-old woman, believed to be his girlfriend, had also been shot but was still alive. Nomusa Nkosi (24) was rushed to hospital, but sadly died later. They were both allegedly shot by the woman’s ex-boyfriend, who handed himself over to police, along with the firearm.
In another incident, a woman was stabbed to death in eDumbe on Sunday morning. According to information currently available, the woman’s boyfriend found her. Judging by marks on the body, she had been dragged along. She also had a stab wound above her left eye. The case is under investigation.
