Alleged hit-men killed in shoot-out with police

The two occupants that got out immediately started shooting at the police

Two alleged hit-men were killed during a shoot-out with police in the Mahlabathini area on Wednesday (November 6). Police received information about two suspects travelling in a red Volkswagen Polo, allegedly on their way to assassinate a taxi owner. Officers intercepted the vehicle and indicated for it to pull over.
The vehicle did stop, but the two occupants that got out immediately started shooting at the police. The officers returned fire and the two suspected hit-men were killed. Police recovered three firearms.
It was later found that one of the firearms was reported stolen at Macekane Reserve, Mtunzini, in January.
Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda commented that, “No police officer sustained any injuries during the incident and the recovered firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing in order to ascertain if they are linked to any crime scenes in and around the province.”
