Spate of robberies in and around town

Residents are advised to be mindful of their surroundings, keep valuables secure and avoid travelling alone, especially at night.

A string of brazen robberies in and around Ladysmith has left residents on high alert, with many expressing concern for their safety.

One of the latest incidents occurred in Lyell Street, where a woman and her friend fell victim to robbers. The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, recounted the harrowing experience. “We were driving to a function and trying to locate the venue. We stopped at the robot, waiting for it to turn green, when suddenly a guy pulled my phone right out of my hand through the open window.”

This incident is just one of several that have taken place in the Ladysmith area.

On February 14, a mother and son were attacked by thugs in Willis Road, near the pedestrian bridge. The 64-year-old mother suffered a stab wound in the assault.
