Water-shedding to come into effect

The community is advised to use water sparingly and store water if possible.

uThukela say that water-shedding will come into effect from today (February 24).

They have been experiencing load-shedding at the Spioenkop Dam raw water pump station and due to the load-shedding schedule, bulk water storage levels have dropped very low in Ladysmith.

“We will be forced to implement water-shedding to fill the command reservoirs at night,” said uThukela spokesperson Jabulani Mkhonza.

Mkhonza confirmed that they will implement a water-shedding programme, starting today from 20:00 to 05:00 and will continue until further notice.

Areas that will be affected are: Golf Course, Observation Hill, Egerton, Steadville, CBD, Modelkloof, Limit Hill,
Mkhamba Gardens, Hyde Park, Danskraal Industrial Area, St Chad’s, and Area J.

Furthermore, water pressure will be reduced in the following areas: Van Riebeeck Park, Roosboom, RTI
Ladysmith Motel, Old Golf Course, and Hospital Park.
