Over 11,000 arrests in February

626 dangerous weapons were removed from society, including 562 knives, 12 axes and 20 machetes.

During various operations, police in KwaZulu-Natal arrested a whopping 11,007 people for different crimes in February 2025. In addition to the arrests, they recovered 287 firearms, of which 13 were rifles, as well as 5825 rounds of ammunition.

151 people were arrested for murder, 159 for attempted murder, and 217 for robbery (including robbery with aggravating circumstances, carjacking, cash-in-transit robbery, and house and business robberies).

Detectives were also hard at work and made the following arrests: 217 for rape, 37 for sexual assault, and 2547 for assault (with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and assault common).

Regarding property-related crimes, 439 people were nabbed for cases such as burglaries at residential and business premises, stock theft, as well as theft of and theft out of motor vehicles.
