Man shot dead by Ladysmith K9 Unit after break-in
A 9mm pistol was recovered at the scene.
An alleged burglar was shot and killed while trying to get away from police in Limit Hill last night (September 4).Â
K9 officers responded to reports of a business burglary in 4th Street, Limit Hill.
Upon arrival, a man attempted to flee, with police in pursuit on foot. The man allegedly turned and pointed his firearm at the officers, prompting them to open fire. Three shots were fired, one of which struck the man, killing him instantly.

A 9mm pistol with the serial number filed off was found next to the body.
Police are investigating several cases related to the incident, including attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and murder. An inquest has been opened into the man’s death.
The above was confirmed by a police officer who was unauthorised to speak to the media. Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan said that all enquiries regarding the shooting should be sent to provincial police communications. At the time of publishing, no response had been received.Â
