A Lennoxton man was arrested on Monday morning after an alleged domestic dispute turned violent on Sunday evening (November 23).

Amajuba District SAPS communications officer, Constable Ninjabulo Langa of the Amajuba SAPS Corporate Communications Department, confirmed the arrest.

“On Monday at about 01:00, Newcastle SAPS members responded to a domestic violence complaint in Lennoxton, where the complainant was allegedly held against her will. The suspect had reportedly slapped the woman across the face and pointed a firearm at her, threatening to kill her should she contact the police. However, she was able to call for help, and officers arrested the suspect on arrival,” she explained.

She added that the man has been charged with two counts of pointing a firearm, kidnapping, common assault, and intimidation.

He is expected to appear before the Newcastle District Court this week.
