Suspected drug dealer nabbed by police

The value of the drugs is about R32,000.

A 27-year-old man has appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court following an operation by members of the uThukela District Task Team.

The man was arrested on Tuesday (January 13) in the Ladysmith CBD after officers, who were strategically positioned, intercepted his vehicle.

According to allegations, the man was en-route to supply ‘runners’ in the CBD when officers pounced on him, cutting his mission short.

During the operation, officers recovered 802 capsules suspected to be heroin, along with a substantial amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of crime. The suspect’s vehicle has been impounded.

The street value of the recovered drugs is estimated at about R32,000.
