Body recovered by Ladysmith K9 Unit

Body discovered in Bushman’s River

A disturbing discovery was made recently when Ladysmith K9 Search and Rescue responded to reports of a body seen in the Bushman’s River on a farm in the Estcourt area.

Recovery operation in difficult conditions

Ladysmith Warrant Officer Jacques Meyer was deployed to the scene, where he successfully recovered the body of an unidentified man believed to be approximately 30 years old. Officials reported that the body had become trapped between trees in the river.

Due to the location and the advanced state of decomposition, the recovery was carried out with extreme care under challenging conditions.

Investigation underway

Estcourt detectives have since opened an investigation and are working to establish the identity of the deceased. Authorities have confirmed that attempts are being made to determine whether the body is linked to a missing person case previously reported in the area.
