Shock in Estcourt as missing woman is found murdered
No arrests have been made as yet, as the authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder.
The Estcourt community is reeling in shock following the discovery of a woman’s body in bushes near a school in Colita yesterday (February 11).
The deceased has been identified as Zenzokuhle Khumalo from Loskop, who was reported missing on Monday this week (February 9).
Her body has now been found, sending waves of grief and outrage through the community.
What the police know so far
SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan has confirmed the incident, saying the deceased was found near Estcourt Primary School on Wednesday. She had sustained a gunshot wound.
“Estcourt and Amangwe detectives are piecing together the events that led to the murder of a 44-year-old female who went missing from the Amangwe area. Her lifeless body was found close to Estcourt Primary School yesterday (Wednesday) morning. She had sustained a single gunshot wound. The deceased has been identified as Zenzokuhle Purity Khumalo,” commented Khan.

With an increasing number of incidents in which people are found murdered in Estcourt, residents are concerned for their safety, calling on the authorities to curb this scourge and also deal with gender-based violence.
