Police arrest mother after children found murdered

Police have arrested a mother after her two young children were found murdered in KwaMathukuza. Investigations are ongoing.

On Thursday, April 9, Newcastle SAPS responded to an incident in Kwa-Mathukuza where two children were murdered, allegedly by their mother.

A terrifying phonecall

According to Amajuba District Saps spokesperson, Nonjabulo Langa, the suspect’s father said he received a call from the father of the children, who informed him that he received a call from the suspect, telling him she had killed their children (nine months and five-year-old girls).

“The suspect’s father proceeded to his daughter’s house. Upon arrival, the suspect was nowhere to be found. He found his two grandchildren in the bedroom covered in blood with their throats slit.”

The children were declared dead on the scene.

Suspect is arrested

The suspect was apprehended and arrested in Madadeni after she fled the crime scene.

“She was found with an injury to her throat, admitting to have inflicted it herself,” said Langa.

Two blood-stained knives were found under the bed.

The motive is still unknown at the moment, and the investigation continues.
