Raising ire as road network collapses in industrial area
The roads across from the main road, accessing the rest of the industrial area, are no better.

The rapidly deteriorating road network in the Avon Industrial Area has, for many years, raised the ire of business owners.
“Four years ago, a promise was made by the then council and Technical Services Department to attend to Cable, Brewery and Avon Road and other roads in the area.
“Sadly, nothing has been done and now we are driving on pothole-riddled dirt roads,” said one businessman who spoke to the Courier on condition of anonymity.
Another commented that his customers had ‘made their own road’ to access his business in Avon Road by driving on the grass adjacent to the R33 Helpmekaar Road.
“Avon Road is worse than a farm track, so the homemade road just came about as cars started using it and an informal road developed.”
