Local EFF members take part in national shutdown

The SAPS said there were no cases of looting, vandalism, break-ins or assault during the march.

As we all know, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) staged a national shut-down throughout South Africa on Monday, March 20. The shut-down was aimed at raising various issues the country is currently experiencing, such as load-shedding, the high cost of living, unemployment and crime. They were also demanding that President Cyril Ramaphosa step down from his position as leader of the country.
The EFF in Vryheid also took part by going on a march through town. Party members gathered at the back of Bhekuzulu Stadium, before moving into different streets of Vryheid.

Police officers monitored the situation and commented that it was a peaceful march; they did not experience any problems. The SAPS said there were no cases of looting, vandalism, break-ins or assault during the march.
Vryheid Station Commander Colonel Hein Potgieter and Vryheid SAPS management would like to thank neighbourhood watches, Public Safety, CPFs, security companies and the community at large for playing a role in assisting and doing patrols before the date of the actual shut-down.
