Cllr Warasally still at work – have IFP NEC changed their mind?

Councillor survives attempt to oust him from the IFP?

It is alleged that Councillor Abbas Warasally has not resigned, as the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) stated in a press release on March 6. The councillor was in hot water over a ‘sex-for-jobs’ scandal after an audio clip went viral in which he can allegedly be heard with a female worker.

According to several opposition parties, Warasally is still an active councillor. Attempts to get comment from both the mayor and the speaker proved fruitless. Both referred the matter to the IFP NEC, saying they could not comment.

Warasally was supposed to be forced out of his job, according to IFP spokesperson Mkhuleko Hlengwa. This was claimed would happen in an interview with City Press published on March 21.
