Police worked together with Life-Line and the Liquor Board to spread awareness at various local schools during Child Protection Week.
Constable Zama Hlongwane represented Ladysmith SAPS.
Among the schools visited were Keate Street Primary, Steadville Secondary, Sidingulwanzi Primary and Dr Joseph Shabalala High School.
The learners were engaged about topics such as ‘intimate partner violence’, gang violence, gender-based violence, substance abuse, rape, bullying, theft at school, school safety and child negligence.
In addition, they were educated about the SAPS toll-free 10111 emergency number.
Constable Hlongwane honoured an invite from the Department of Sport & Recreation and spoke at the AG Magubane Stadium, where toddlers from crèches in the area were in attendance.
