Ladysmith about to change its name?

The public is invited to vote or suggest names for the town

There are mixed emotions among community members upon reading in this week’s Ladysmith Gazette that our town is likely to have its name changed.

The MEC for Sport, Arts & Culture, together with the KZN Geographical Names Committee, has invited residents of Ladysmith to comment on the proposed name change.

The name will either change to uMnambithi or will remain Ladysmith.

According to an advertisement that appeared in the Ladysmith Gazette, placed by the department, residents can also suggest other names as well.

Those who want to be heard should attend meetings scheduled between November 27 and December 1 at the Town Hall or Traditional Authority Courts (Alfred Duma Local Municipality).
