NGO lends a medical hand to Newcastle residents
Hundreds of Newcastle residents showed up to take advantage of the range of medical services including general check-ups, eye examinations, vaccinations and many more.
The Ramakrishna Clinic of S.A Durban was once again in Newcastle to provide humanitarian aid to the residents of Newcastle and surrounding areas on Sunday, November 26.
In a world where access to healthcare is a crucial determinant of well-being, the NGO plays a very vital role in bridging the gap and ensuring that essential services reach those that need them the most.
Lennoxton Primary School was converted into a cutting-edge medical camp that provided free medical care to those living in underserved communities.
“We hold this camp every year, free of costs. The first medical camp in Newcastle was in 2016,” said Chairperson of the Newcastle Sub Centre Vijay Singh.
“Local doctors as well as doctors from as far as Durban and Ermelo donated their services. They are comfortable to help because it’s all about giving back,” he continued.
Specialists such as gynaecologists, physiotherapists, optometrists, physicians, haematologists, paediatricians and countless others were also there providing specialist care for those that needed it.
