Dannhauser residents plan a ‘back to my roots’ mega-reunion in February 2024
The afternoon promises a vibrant recreation of a primary school sports day from the 60s/70s. This delightful blast from the past will not only stir up fond memories, but also reignite the energy, competitiveness and camaraderie of their primary school days.
Patriotic residents of Dannhauser are set for a once-in-a-lifetime reunion entitled ‘Back to my NDH Roots’, set to take place on February 3 next year.
The event will celebrate individuals hailing from Dannhauser, the small but vibrant town of their birth. Being a touchstone for those born during the transformative decades of the 50s, 60s and 70s, this gathering intends to allow individuals from around South Africa and abroad to rekindle their memories and their ties with their shared birthplace.
The organising committee, ‘Back to My Roots |Dannhauser’, said that the day will commence with an interfaith prayer service – a tribute to the forefathers, parents and all the townsfolk of Dannhauser who aren’t with us anymore.
This solemn commemoration allows guests to express gratitude and respect towards those who once were an integral part of their lives, echoing their legacy in the heart of their hometown.
The reunion is more than just a gathering though; it’s a chance to delve deep into the past, revisit those good old times and reconnect with one’s roots. As attendees wander the familiar streets of Dannhauser, they will be able to relive the significant moments of their lives, laugh at long-forgotten antics and perhaps shed a tear or two for the times that have passed.
“This dreamy journey down memory lane is designed to be a tribute to the soil of their birth, reinforcing the bond that transcends generations and cementing the sense of unity and togetherness. The trip back to Dannhauser isn’t just about geographical displacement – it is an embracing of one’s roots, a celebration of history, and a testament to the undying spirit of camaraderie and shared memories.
